Program Highlights

IU Northwest Non-Profit Institute

GRANTS Inc. has a partnership with the IU Northwest Center for Urban and Regional Excellence to manage the day to day operations of the IU Northwest Non-Profit Institute ("NPI"). NPI is dedicated to providing education, research, and technical assistance that will increase the organizational capacity and the financial sustainability of Northwest Indiana.

GRANTS Inc. Grassroots Capacity Building Initiative

This funding opportunity is designed to assist small nonprofit organizations build internal capacity and strengthen programs through a customized six month commitment of consulting services to board and staff.

Shared Grant Writer Program

In an effort to help local nonprofits continue to search for grant dollars, the South Shore GRANTS Center has started a program that, along with a donor match, is funding an experienced grant writer for $12,500 per year for non-profits, We also have a program, not donor matched, to help local governments afford these same services for $15,000 per year.

With this investment, the entity has the focused attention in grant reasearch and grant writing of an experienced grant writer for one day a week for a full year. This should help the investing entity expand their grant opportunities and access additional outside dollars to support their programs. Typically grant writers charge between $50 and $125 per hour to write a grant depending upon length and complexity. Hired grant writers earn about $50,000 per year plus benefits. This program can save the investing entity thousands of dollars per year and still give them access to grant opportunities.

Grant Review Program

For a small fee of $30 per hour (Minimun of 1 hour billing), our experienced staff will review the grant prior to submission from any non-profit, local government or for-profit. The grant reviewer will put a critical eye on the document and suggest improvements. To do this, the grant request and grant response need to be sent electronically so that the reviewer can review what was asked for and the response of the entity to that request.

Grammar Check Program

Fo the small fee of $30 per hour (minimum of 1 hour charge) we have experienced English teachers that will review the document for sentence structure, clarity, and spelling.  Electronic copies are required.

Honest Broker Program

We will act as an honest broker for nonprofits, for profits and local governments  in soliciting from our twenty-two grant writers their cost for writing specific grants. The entity asking for the service must provide the grant information to the South Shore GRANTS Center, the parameters and time to submission, and sufficient information to understand the qualifying aspects of the grant and the capacity to utilize this grant. A fee of $75.00 will be charged for this service.

Administrative and Fiscal Agency Program

Often it is difficult for small nonprofits and local governments to apply for grants because they do not have the time or staff internally to effectively manage the grant. The South Shore GRANTS Center will accept that responsibility at no additional charge outside the allowable grant administrative costs and programatic oversight costs. This frees up the granted entity to focus on the measures and outcomes desired by the funding agency. Our hope is with this barrier lifted, we will have more local agencies applying for federal and state dollars as well as foundation dollars.
